This is the start of something BIG! Literally! I am fully committed to making large scale multicolor narrative woodcuts. It's been too long, there have been too many distractions, but now it begins! I wanted to start this year off strong so I revisited a Classic! Bertha the Clown is one of my all-time favorites, and I love this bigger, more colorful, and ornate version even more!
This print is part of my Jimmy the Pope Suite which tells the story of an 8 year old boy who becomes the new Pope! It is a story I wrote after a found a collection of slides from the 1960's at a thrift store about 25 years ago. You can see the slide below as well as the original much smaller, and out of print Bertha the Clown from 2004
